Christina Östberg Lloyd from Pharmiva about NLSDays’ Gender Science super session
      What’s in it for you?

We know what is in it for us, putting Gender Science and the need to Reproduce for the Other 50% forward as one of the main themes of Nordic Life Science Days 2022. This happens to be one of the areas of strength in our region, with innovative life science companies producing new solutions to unmet needs, and we would like to share this with you. With the Nordics at the helm of gender equality and Denmark being the original home to FemTech, it makes perfect sense for us to raise this theme and for Denmark to host it. However, I believe that our Nordic region’s awareness about the benefits of rethinking medicine from a perspective that considers the entire population, including its biological differences, goes far beyond cultural values. It is scientifically driven as well and is a consequence of the Nordics being at the forefront of tackling diversity and equality on all fronts.

Put simply, it does not make sense to develop new diagnostics, drugs, or therapies without considering our sex-specific, biological, genetic, disease-developing and treatment-response differences when we are talking diversity and equality on all other fronts. The prevalence for different diseases is different between women and men, yet we know all too little about the specifics of these differences.

Can we move forward into rethinking life sciences for the other 50%? Are there stigmas blocking this when it comes to biologically specific differences? What is the business case for rethinking from basic to clinical science, and what do those markets look like? In essence – what is in it for you?

At Nordic Life Science Days 2022, we will dive into this topic together with global pharmaceutical teams such as Ferring, investors such as PAACS Invest, with both start-up and scale-up entrepreneurs.
I look forward to seeing you there!
